Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum) is exotic fruits, in some countries it called “hairy” probable native to South East Asia. The rambutan trees reach 15-25 metre high, and harvest season ones or twice a year.


In Indonesia there are some species of rambutan, the hairy tropical fruits, rambutan Aceh is red and sweet and easy to apart from the seeds, the other type of rambutan is rambutan rapiah is green and very short hair but it is sweet too and also easy to apart from the seeds.

According to the people at the village all part of rambutan trees have some traditional medications cures, boiled roots of rambutan trees could reduce fever, and the rambutan fruits could cure diare, I think the modern medication should make a research on it, or maybe it has been done, I don’t know.

Rambutan is very popular fruits in Indonesia, I think everybody know rambutan, and the price of rambutan is relatively cheap compare to apple, orange, plums, peach, manggo. Right now the price of rambutan in Jakarta like in the picture today it cost US 0.50 for the whole, really cheap isn’t it, so come to Jakarta, Indonesia, and you can eat it as much rambutan as you like.
