Tonight I have dinner with my family at Red bean restaurant at Point Square South Jakarta, as they installed vertical banner at the front of the restaurant saying that should the customers pay with credit card issued by the Standard Chartered Bank will receive 25% discount.

Very rare people eat at that restaurant, so the restaurant is empty and very quiet, the waiters seem lazy to give service to the customers. I ordered a package menu for 4 peoples.

When I asked them to bring me a bill and I presented my Standard Chartered’s credit card, they said they can’t process the credit card because the machine broke down, so they asked me to pay by cash in full amount without any discount, a scam….

I told the manager, they cheated the customers because the banner is still there, why didn’t they dismantled it. They just said sorry, no more word. I told them I was promoted their restaurant some times ago with thumb up but now I gave them thumb down and I will write it down.

I was angry not because I loose 25% discount, I was angry because they have unfair business, unfair advertisement.

So be careful with the unfair advertisement, oh poor manager.

If you’ve never been to New York City, you can’t claim to have gone unless you trek on out to the infamous boardwalks of Coney Island. It is important to understand first of all that Coney Island is only open seasonally so you have to plan your journey accordingly. The second thing that is important to understand about Coney Island is that it isn’t one centrally owned operation.

The vast majority of attractions at Coney Island close either immediately or very soon after Labor Day. The beach and the actual boardwalk are open to the public year round, some times are simply lonelier than others. Nathan’s Hot Dogs and the New York Aquarium remain open after the summer season has ended and operate most days throughout the year. The Coney Island Museum is Open on the weekend from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM year-round. During the summer season when tourism is high along the boardwalk the two major theme parks: Astroland and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park sponsor firework shows on Fridays at 9:30.

The amusement parks of Coney Island are only part of the attraction but they work to bring many people to this very unique entertainment venue each and every year. Astroland Amusement Park is the largest amusement park in New York City. The Cyclone is the most famous ride in this particular park and this is a ride that is well known by roller coaster enthusiasts around the world. It is a wooden roller coaster that offers quite a thrilling ride. Other great rides at this park include the Astroflume, The Break Dancer, the Astroland Carousel, The Swings, Top Spin, Dante’s Inferno, Power Surge, and Astro Tower. For the little ones there is a very nice selection of kiddie rides that will keep them entertained while older children enjoy some of the more thrill-oriented rides. If you’re looking for a day of great food and great fun in the sun Astroland is a great place to be.

Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park is most famous for its Wonder Wheel. The cars on this magnificent ride are red, white, and blue (rather patriotic of them wasn’t it?) with swinging red and blue cards and stationary white cars. The Spook-A-Rama is another popular if not frightening ride that is offered at Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park. If you need a shot of thrills and spills try the Super Shot but only if you’re 52″ or more or the Thunderbolt, which has a 48″ height requirement. And what day at Coney Island wouldn’t be complete without a taste of bumper cars? There are also plenty of rides for the little ones to choose from on their outing as well.

For something a little more sedate than thrills and chills at the amusement parks, Coney Island is also home to the New York Aquarium at Coney Island. This is a great way to learn about marine life and enjoy watching your children watching fascinating sea creatures they would be unlikely to see in other circumstances. There are more than 8,000 animals represented at the New York aquarium. Not only is this a fascinating adventure of its own, you won’t have to sacrifice your hairstyle in order to enjoy it.

The Coney Island Museum is also well worth taking a peek. You will find relics of old rides and memorabilia of days gone by in the museum as well as incredible views of the rides available today. The admission price is rather affordable at 99 cents and it’s a fun place to visit and get out of the sun for a bit. No trip to Coney Island is really complete without at least stopping into the Museum. Besides, these might be the cleanest restrooms on the island. Coney Island is one of the greatest things about a visit to New York. If you can schedule your trip to New York when the Parks are open and the boardwalk is bustling I highly recommend you spend a weekend night out on the boardwalk.

Things to do before you leave

When you go on a trip the first thing you want to do before you leave is to make up a check list of the things you will need, you will then take that checklist and narrow it down a bit, so that you are only left with the things that you really need, the urgent things that you can fit into your case. Once this is done, and you are sure that you have only the important things, because you do not want to pay extra air taxes and luggage fees, then you can do on to packing your things next to your suit case. Make sure that you do not pack them straight into your suit case, because you want to check them one more time before you pack them in. Once everything a laid down neatly next to each other, go through the list again, and then make sure that you will need and that you will use everything in front of you, if you think for a second that you might not use something, take it away and scratch it off your list. Once this is done, you are ready to pack the items on your bed into you case, and then you are ready for your flight, just do not forget to feed the fish.

Planning your next trip? Planning your next vacation? Are you coming up for your next leave time? When you plan for travel time or vacation you will need to make up a small guide for yourself, almost like a checklist, so that you can make sure that you have everything you need, and that you do not forget anything. Wherever you go, whoever you speak to, if he or she is a professional travel agent, a travel packer or a person that travels a lot, you will always be told that you need that check list. This is because, almost 90 percent of the time, if you do not have that checklist, you will forget something, and that something will be very important at some point of your journey, otherwise you would not have thought of it. This is true, and this will never change, so before you start packing anything into that suite case, make sure that you have a checklist of all of the things you need.

A checklist is very important to your journey, and to the next few days of your vacation, because if you even forget one single item you will throw everything off. We say this because you need to remember that a checklist is there for a reason. Yes it is there to remember everything you need, but it is also there to only take with the important things. Any tripist will tell you, you need to only pack the things you will really need; this is because of air taxes and luggage fees. You do not want to pay extra for that extra weight. So read all of the travel guides you can, and if you can take with you any interactive travel guides you get.

There are many cruise destinations in Caribbean, but Disney cruise to the Caribbean is quite different from all. Basically, it is family oriented. Here, a family can together enjoy the magical feel and beauty of the cruise. No cruise other than the Disney could give a total family enjoyment without reservation which will become reminiscence for a lifetime. Really, it is the best cruise deal as far as the family oriented fun and pleasure is concerned.

One can enjoy the renowned Disney service on their cruise ships “Disney Wonder” and “Disney Magic”. There are 875 staterooms on these splendid ships. Apart from them, one can enjoy the panoramic views of oceans from the staterooms. Nearly half of the numbers of the staterooms have their own gallery. A common feature which most staterooms have is bath-and-a-half. And even a great deal of storage space and wonderful nautical furnishings has the same feature.

Some areas have been designed specially for the family so that the whole family can enjoy together the magic of Disney cruise. Some playful activities have been designed for interaction among the ages. And, obviously, some activities are designed for teens, children and adults and the like separately so that teens can mix with teens, children with other children and adults with other adults.

On the Disney cruise, young children can enjoy singing and dancing and the like and for the older children, games and fun “science” workshops are also there at their disposal. Games and pool parties are also available there for teens. As for the adult cruise lovers wine tasting, the spa and culinary demonstrations are there for their enjoyment. And more than that, there are the Disney shows for everyone.

One can relish the beauty of ports such as Grand Cayman, Key West and Cozumel on the 7 night Western Caribbean itinerary and the beauty of ports such as St. Thomas and St. Maarten on their 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise. Apart from the eastern and western Caribbean cruise, there are also 3 to 4 day Bahamas cruises. Disney’s own Bahamas Island Castaway Cay is such a port where all of the cruises stop.

Really, Disney cruise is a hassle-free cruise for adults and families as well. On a Disney cruise, all kinds of temptations and attractions are available for all the age groups.

This is not only because of this fact that a cheap cruise is not very expensive, but also because of this fact that one is well and truly entitled to enjoy the luxuries of the cruise. Cheap cruise is all about paying less for the perfect and satisfying vacation. In the view of the popularity of the cheap cruise, a number of travel companies are involving and making the most of the amenities that one can enjoy onboard.

Aloha to everyone!

First things first, scuba diving is one of the foremost fun things one could do in Hawaii. Believe it or not, there are various diving companies, diving sites in and around Hawaii. All you have to do is open yourself up to the possibilities of fun and diving adventure.

Why dive in Hawaii?

The fact of the matter is that the chain of islands in Hawaii is basically made up of more than a hundred islands. The most famous of these islands are Kauai, Ni’ihau, Lanai, Molokai, Maui and Kahoolawe.

Hawaii is surrounded by the ocean and is specifically located about more than two thousand miles from the nearest continent.

It has been shown that more than twenty five percent of marine life is attributed to Hawaii.

Of the islands mentioned, the four islands that tourists most flock to are Maui, Oahu, Kauai as well as Hawaii.

These islands all have their own unique traits as well as diving locations.

The islands of Molokai, Lanai, Ni’ihau are actually less frequently dived yet they offer unique marine life.

These islands are recommended generally for divers that are advanced as well as intermediate levels.

If interested in going to Kahoolawe for diving, a charter diving boat is needed. However, there are other fun options one could do when you’re not under the waves. Skydiving is one, visiting a luau is another.

You could also try going to one of the active volcano’s in the world. Or if you prefer, relaxing in a secluded and peaceful beach is also a good option.

Diving sites in Hawaii

Hawaii is a perfect place to go diving. Thanks to its warm and pristine waters.

Oahu is a diving site in Hawaii that has lava offshore formations as well as grottoes, shipwrecks and plane. It also carries large colorful schools of sea green turtles and fish.

Maui is another Hawaii scuba diving site that is located on the west coast and also offers excellent sites for diving for any level.

Kauai is also known for the pristine and rugged diving sites. The winter season makes it quite inaccessible for diving, however that isn’t the case when summer comes.

Lanai is another diving site that is known for the lava formations it offers. The formations consist of nature-made ridges, archways, tunnels and pinnacles.

All in all, there are many Hawaii diving sites to choose from. It all depends on your preference and need. It is a guarantee though that scuba diving anywhere in Hawaii is an activity that is unforgettably fun.

Whenever I think of a trip to New York City whether for a vacation or just a short one or two-day visit I can’t help but think of Broadway and the delightful shows that await in these hallowed halls of entertainment delight. Broadway is the essence of New York to me. It can in turns be bawdy, brawling, loud, rowdy, soft, romantic, comedic, and rip-roaringly hilarious. Broadway has it all for those who are willing to look for their perfect fit.

The problem with Broadway is that there are so many wonderful shows to see and such limited time (for most of us) in which to see them. I don’t even believe those who live in New York City have enough time in which to appreciate the artistic treasure trove that is represented within this wonderful city that never sleeps. The truth of the matter is that in order to properly enjoy all the theatrical offerings available to you, you’d almost have to never sleep yourself.

Musicals

It is important to remember that all shows are not available at all times. Check to see if the show you wish to see will be playing during your visit before getting your hopes up. On to the musicals, which are, by the way, my favorite types of Broadway entertainment. Chicago the Musical, Forbidden Broadway (this one offers an hilarious ’spoof’ of Broadway), Jersey Boys, Naked Boys Singing (yes, they are!), Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Wicked, and Mama Mia!

Comedies

Broadway is well known for thumbing its nose at convention as well as for letting it’s hair down and having a good ole time. The same holds true for the Broadway theatre of today. Comedies and musicals on Broadway are not mutually exclusive so some of the hilarity mentioned below will have some degree of song and dance (well most likely quite a bit of both but you will definitely laugh). Let the comedies begin! I Love You, Your Perfect, Now Change (seriously, that’s the name we’re already off to a great start on the road to laughter). Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (I think someone’s been peeking in my kids windows at night-this one is actually off Broadway but I thought it bore mentioning with such a catchy title and all). Spamalot. This one is rising star with rave reviews by critics and a fairly good attendance rate so buy your tickets early! The Producers, which was recently made as a motion picture and The Little Dog Laughed round up my list of comedies. I hope you’ve seen something here that looks like a good laugh; I know I’ve seen a few!

Drama

While many people think of the happy go lucky song and dance that is often associated with Broadway there is a deep dramatic flare to the offerings as well. Particularly some of the musicals that carry with them profound messages about music, life and love-among these wonderful icons of Broadway are the following: Rent- a very La Boheme meets modern life musical that is probably one of the best Broadway musicals I’ve ever seen and I’m a huge fan of Phantom. Les Miserables is another Broadway drama that really needs no introduction, Grey Gardens is perfect for anyone who fears becoming a cat lady or spinster, A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Color Purple, Phantom of the Opera (my personal favorite), and The Vertical Hour (this is a new one let’s hope it lasts).

There are a few family friendly musicals and plays that bear mentioning among them are the following: Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera (may be a little frightening for younger children during certain scenes), Tarzan, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Momma Mia!, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Beauty and the Beast. You know your child best and what will or will not be frightening for them or possibly lead to uncomfortable questions for you, view most Broadway plays with that in mind.

Broadway is a great way to really enjoy what New York has to offer its visitors for entertainment. While it would hardly be possible to see each and every show that might attract your attention it is quite possible to make the time to view the one that is most appealing to you and it will be quite an experience for the entire family.

We just visited Mount Titlis the extra ordinary beautiful mountain in Switzerland, we wanted to continue our journey to Frankfurt via the Romantic Road along to the Rhine River in Germany.

Rhine River become as a main water transportation mode to move cargo or oil from the hinterland to the upper end, so this transportation mode become most economical.

On our way we stopped at Loreley-also written as Lorelei, where I heard a Germany Folklore from the native of Loreley|Lorelei, that once upon the time there was a beautiful young maiden who jumped from the rock formation to the Rhine River and killed herself. The beautiful young maiden was in love with somebody but this is a faithless love, she has a broken hearth.

The Loreley|Lorelei is a rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine River near St Goarshausen Germany, this Romantic Rhine Valley about 25 km from Rudesheim and 80 km from Frankfurt Airport Germany. In some area the river become narrowed and the ship captain should be careful not to hit the river bank or rock formation.

According to that fairy tale, the peoples who passed the Romantic Rhine Valley, the Loreley|Lorelei could be heard a singing from from the Rock formation along the Rhine River.

The Loreley|Lorelei a Romantic Rhine Valley is a good place to have a rest because it’s beautiful scenery and fresh air, some cafes are available for you and family for refreshment.

Die Lorelei
The Lorelei

By:Heinrich Heine

ORIGINAL:

Ich weiß nicht, was soll es bedeuten,
Daß ich so traurig bin;
Ein Märchen aus alten Zeiten,
Das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.

Die Luft ist kühl, und es dunkelt,
Un ruhig fließt der Rhein;
Der Gipfel des Berges funkelt
In Abendsonnenschein.

Die schönste Jungfrau sitzet
Dort oben wunderbar,
Ihr goldenes Geschmeide blitzet,
Sie kämmt ihr goldenes Haar.

Sie kämmt es mit goldenem Kamme
Und singt ein Leid dabei;
Das hat eine wundersame,
Gewaltige Melodei.

Den Schiffer im kleinen Schiffe
Ergreift es mit wildem Weh;
Er schaut nicht die Felsenriffe,
Er schaut nur hinauf in die Höh’.

Ich glaube, die Wellen verschlingen
Am Ende Schiffer uns Kahn;
Und das hat mit ihrem Singen
Die Lorelei getan.

	TRANSLATION:

I don’t know what it may signify
That I am so sad;
There’s a tale from ancient times
That I can’t get out of my mind.

The air is cool and the twilight is falling
and the Rhine is flowing quietly by;
the top of the mountain is glittering
in the evening sun.

The loveliest maiden is sitting
Up there, wondrous to tell.
Her golden jewelry sparkles
as she combs her golden hair

She combs it with a golden comb
and sings a song as she does,
A song with a peculiar,
powerful melody.

It seizes upon the boatman in his small boat
With unrestrained woe;
He does not look below to the rocky shoals,
He only looks up at the heights.

If I’m not mistaken, the waters
Finally swallowed up fisher and boat;
And with her singing
The Lorelei did this.

Boats rental, sea safaris are available at Sewell’s Marina in Horseshoe Bay, the family operated marina has operated since 1930’s. I like sailing around the Horseshoe Bay, watching the spectacular Beautiful British Columbia.

At Horseshoe Bay the highway ends and ferry travel begin to those heading for Bowen Island, Sunshine Coast and Nanaimo. To reach Horseshoe Bay from point south, visitors must enter City of Vancouver first, make their way across Lion Gate Bridge to West Vancouver, then follow the sign for the Ferry Terminal. Visitors from the east need only to stay on Highway No.1, then Trans Canada Highway.

Vancouver Beautiful British Columbia is tourists delight with ocean and mountains a lot of to sea, you could experiencing walk on the top of the tall trees and sways on Capilano Suspension Bridge, watch Capilano Salmon hatchery. In City of Vancouver you may walk along the bustling Robson Street see the night life and window shopping, or dining at the revolving restaurant while watching the light sparkling from the islands surround.

A lot of Americans come to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada during weekend or holiday because Vancouver is so close with Seattle of Washington State of The United States of America-USA., just drive cross the border of America to Canada.

I missed Vancouver Beautiful British Columbia, I missed my friends long time no see.

When I visited Washington,D.C. some years ago, I have a chanced visited President John Fitzgerald “Jack” Kennedy’s gravesite or popular with JFK at Arlington National Cemetery, where his brother Robert Kennedy former Attorney General of USA and JFK’s wife Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis was buried also adjacent to John F Kennedy’s gravesite. John F Kennedy’s gravesite is famous with it’s The Eternal Flame, I think the only one gravesite with The Eternal Flame in Arlington National Cemetery.

John F Kennedy was born on 29th May 1917 at Brookline Massachusetts, a second son of Joseph P Kennedy senior and was the 35th President of The United States of America, serving from 1961 until his assassination on 22nd November 1963.

John F Kennedy-JFK was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on his state visit with his wife Jacqueline. Lee Havrey Oswald was charged with crime and was murdered two days later by Jack Ruby before he could be put on trial, you could read conspiracy theory.

John F Kennedy was my idol since I was a little boy, I read the story about his heroism and patriotic action during the world war 2, that way I always remember him and I was cried when I heard that Kennedy was murdered. I never forget when his little son John John gave a military salute to the President cascades on his funeral procession.

On August 2nd, 1943 Kennedy’s boat the PT 109 was rammed by Japanese destroyer in Pacific Ocean, Kennedy swam towing a wounded man to an island and later to the second island, for his patriotic and heroism Kennedy received The United States of America’s Navy and Marine Corp Medal.

Arlington National Cemetery is located at Arlington, Virginia. Across the beautiful Potomac River from Washington at the west end of the Memorial Bridge, Arlington Virginia. Arlington National Cemetery serves as cemetery and memorial to America’s war heroes.

Arlington National Cemetery is really artistic and beautiful, the landscape is fantastic extraordinary beautiful, so it becomes a tourism object as well.

Family vacation can be one of the great moments of life. Traveling with kids can be a wonderful and sensual personal experience. We can explore once more again our emotions and needs and find again what the routine of daily life takes away from us.

Thinking of finding a resort for family holidays we have to take under consideration not only our needs but our childrens needs as well and for sure we have to consider that there are many factors that can influence our decision.

Time along with the weather is the first factors where we have to choose between winter and summer resort destinations. Of course if we are not rich we have to take into consideration our money limitations. Family vacations could be very expensive depending the age of our children type of accommodation or distance from our place.
If we are funds of a specific sport then our decision could be narrowed to resorts offering these specific sport activities.

There are two options when you plan your holidays. In depended travel and package holidays through a tour operator. Both options have good and bad points. Experienced travelers may choose to plan their vacations by them self and a great tool for helping them is Internet where you can find almost everything about the destination accommodation etc.

If you are between these people that wants to plan their vacations alone without the help of a travel agency or tour operator, through internet a good way is to search and visit first big hotel chains that offer accommodation and lodging services.

These hotels describe in their websites all features of each hotel and resort and they give valuable information to travelers about the area weather and other factors. They can help you determine how your needs and your children needs fulfilled and where you can stay to enjoy what you dream of a holiday.

So a good idea instead of first choosing a destination you may choose the hotel company you can trust for their services the type of accommodation, the resort activities and then you will see how the specific hotel can meet all your requirements.

As a Greek living and work in Greece for a Cypriot company I could recommend a Hotel chain presently having activities only in Cyprus and Greece but in the future on more destinations in Europe offering exceptional tourist facilities for any kind of traveler.
Of course I would recommend as well Greece or Cyprus as a family vacation destination in Europe due to the nice weather all year long and the huge number of beaches and sport facilities.

The type of the hotel that may fulfill almost all childrens need is the type that is called club Hotels. These hotels are designed for family vacations and they features animation programs all day long, pools, playgrounds, childrens TV channels, games, entertainers, dances, staff to keep your children safe and busy and many other.

So ending this article I would say stay tuned with internet, search hotels of the country you are interested in as a destination and leave these hotel professionals guide you finding the vacation of your dream.

Choose a company that has high standard of operation and excellent on all fields and has a good reputation in the tourist industry. Finally I wish you and I am sure if you follow these advices you will have incredible holidays for your self and your family.
My cute grandson Akeyla is growing up, he enjoyed to play at Ocean Park BSD City, now he is 2 years and 3 months old, he is very active and enjoyed sporting activities.

Akeyla has no fear to stay in water, he is braves to slide from the height to the pool, and he wanted to stay in water for a few hours and don’t want to get out. Swimming is a good sport for all of us and children as well, because all of our muscles are active.

Beside Ocean Park, BSD City has some water sport area, it has a swimming pool with relatively cheap entrance fee near bus terminal, a swimming pool at Atlantis Club at De Latinos BSD City.

Akeyla’s favourites entertainment are watching Brainy Baby, The Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Club House, Elmo, Little Einsteins, The Wiggles from Sydney Australia. Akeyla could speak English and Bahasa Indonesia, he could count from one to twenty, he could read the clock timer, he know some of alphabetic from A to Z. Akeyla keep singing A, B, C, D, E, F, G and so on.

Bangkok’s temples, the Chao Praya River and the ancient capital of Ayutthaya are three of Thailand’s most iconic symbols and undoubtedly among its biggest attractions. A river cruise in a converted rice barge or modern luxury cruiser is the perfect way to see all three up close and personal.

It needn’t have to be an elaborate affair; you can cut the frills and expenses. Plan the river cruise yourself for a more meaningful Bangkok sightseeing tour from the Chao Phraya River.

At 370 km, the Chao Phraya River is the longest river in Thailand. It’s headwaters start in Nakhon Sawan, more than 200 km north of Bangkok. The river continues past Bangkok to Samut Prakan and flows into the Gulf of Thailand to the south.

Chao Phraya is also the highest title in ancient Thai nobility, similar to the Duke in British nobility. The title is no longer in use.

Attractions, landmarks and views in a river cruise in Bangkok

Start the river cruise from the Sathorn Pier near the Taksin Bridge; five minutes walk from the Taksin Bridge skytrain station, the terminal station for trains from the city center.

Proceed northwards passing the scenic water front hotels like the old Oriental Bangkok where famous writers like Joseph Conrad and Somerset Maugham left their mark.

The first recommended stopover, in a river cruise in Bangkok, is the Ratchawong Pier, which leads to Yaowarat Chinatown, Soi Sampheng where Chinatown started and Soi Sun Yat Sen named after Dr Sun Yat Sen, the father of the Chinese Revolution.

The Memorial Bridge, the next stop, is dedicated to King Rama I, the founder of Bangkok. His monument, near the bridge, depicts King Rama I on a throne gazing at the bustling city he founded more than 220 years ago. Pahurat, the Indian community in Bangkok is further inland.

One of the most attractive periods is to visit is during the

Loy Krathong Festival, when the Chao Phraya is transformed into a river of lights by floral floats lit with candles.

Historical aspects of the Chao Phraya

Further upriver on the Thonburi bank, near the mouth of the Bangkok Yai Canal, the white ramparts of Fort Vichai Prasit come into view. This was an old Ayutthaya fort built in 1688. King Taksin’s Palace was in this complex that’s now the Royal Thai Navy HQ.

Next to this old citadel, stands the glittering Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn, a temple built in the Ayutthaya era.

The Bangkok Yai Canal and the Bangkok Noi Canal, further upriver, used to be the original course of the Chao Phraya River.

A canal was built in 1542 to straighten out this long meander and shorten the sailing time to Ayutthaya, the old capital. The new canal subsequently became the present course of the Chao Phraya River.

The river cruise in Bangkok will now pass the most majestic sight along the Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in old Rattanakosin, the historical center, which is the origin of modern Bangkok.

The Thonburi bank, across from the Grand Palace, is where old communities have lived long before Bangkok was established as the capital. The Bangkok Noi Museum, further inland, preserves the history of these communities.

The Royal Barge Museum, where the famous barges for the Royal Barge Procession are displayed, is located in the Bangkok Noi Canal near the Phra Pin Klao Bridge.

The river cruise in Bangkok next passes Fort Phra Sumen, built in 1783 to fortify the old city. Located near the mouth of the Banglampoo Canal, the second protective canal ring, it’s one of the two remaining forts left from the Bangkok era.

River life and scenes on the Chao Phraya

On the banks, rickety old wooden houses on stilts can be seen in stark contrast to the spanking new houses and condominiums. The noodle vendor in a boat sells her food from house to house as restaurants provide riverside dining near the some of the piers.

The most spectacular bridge across the Chao Phraya River encountered in a river cruise in Bangkok is the King Rama VIII Bridge, a suspension bridge that stands out like a giant harp over the water. Bang Khun Phrom Palace, which houses the Bank of Thailand Museum, is nearby.

Bridges across the Chao Phraya River serve as useful landmarks in a river cruise in Bangkok. Some piers, located near these bridges, are named after them. You’ll pass under eight bridges in the entire river cruise.

Further upriver life gets less touristy and more rustic, particularly on the Thonburi bank. Many piers are named after wats (temples) located nearby, around which community life is built. Some of these temples, though less well known, are equally beautiful as their city counterparts.

Chao Phraya boat services for a river cruise of Bangkok

Chao Phraya River boats ply along the river during the day stopping at regular piers. These boats are an inexpensive and convenient way for a Bangkok sightseeing tour of the river.

A Chao Phraya River tourist boat service is also available for a day tour of selected historical areas and piers. Boat rental services are also available for groups of 20 or more.

A total of 34 Chao Phraya River piers are located along this 25 km winding stretch of river. You don’t have to go all the way though, just take your pick and get on and off where you wish.

Chao Phraya River ferries provide point-to-point crossings at various piers to help you get to the other side.

River cruises provide a perfect way of seeing a more traditonal side of Bangkok. From the quiet villages that line the canals, to the small communities on small islands upstream, to the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya. A relaxing and enlightening way to see the city and beyond.
